Truck drivin son of a gun

It's that time of year again ladies and gentlemen. Time to hit the road and check out the "World's longest yard sale." For those of you who don't know what that is: here's a LINK. Basically, it's a stretch of highway, Route 127,  that runs from the Ohio/Michigan border down to Alabama, where it's just sale, after sale, after sale, after sale, after...... In my humble opinion, it's something that every junk hoarding American should see at least once in their life. Tomorrow morning, we're off!

We did most of Kentucky last year. This year we're going to try to hit as much of Tennessee as we can.
I scored some pretty cool records last summer, hopefully i'll find more oddball crap 45s to share here.
Wish me luck!

Mystery record

This has got to be the weirdest fucking record i've ever found. Home recorded, with a plain white label and no manufacturers identification what so ever. It's a 6" cardboard record, recorded on one side at 78 rpm.

I've listened to it over and over, trying to figure out what the hell is going on here. I think it was an open air recording (where the person held the microphone next to the speaker) of the television. It's so odd sounding, you can tell that it's women talking and laughing but the actual dialog is lost in the distortion. The only words i'm able to pick out is the phrase "Why did the chicken cross the road?"

The person who recorded it probably just tossed it aside and never listened to it again because it the recording is so, well... Just listen and hear for yourself.

Numbers

Some of the guys from the Grand Funk Railroad before they became Grand Funk Railroad with the guy who later became Grand Funk Railroad's manager on lead vocals.

Some pretty sweet mid-60's fuzz guitar riffage going on here. Probably (definitely) the best single off of their only long-player.

Enjoy!

Hickoids

Word around the blog-o-nets is that DivShare is finally back up and running at full speed. We'll see... I have some time to kill tonight on the internet, and don't have to work in the morning, so i figure i'll re-upload all the songs i've posted in the past few weeks using other hosting sites. As of July 3rd, i had been using Box, and Zippyshare as temporary alternatives.
Hopefully DivShare has figured out whatever they had to figure out, and fixed whatever was broken...

Right now here's a great punk 45 that i picked up a few weeks ago. I use the term "punk" loosely here, because it's actually just a low-budget rock and roll record with a good sense of humor. These guys can actually play... Found this gem in the half-off bin at my local record shop. This was the most expensive record i bought that day, i think it ran me two bucks. Two bucks aint so bad- only 50 cents per song. I can live with that... These four tracks were well worth it. There are two originals, and two covers. The originals are actually the better of the two sides, the covers are just a fun bonus...

Enjoy!

Buzz buzz buzz

This record is in pretty rough shape. Noisy, and with a minor skip in the sax solo. It's such a great tune though, i'm happy to have found a copy of it at all.

Our American Heritage

I picked up this gem at an estate sale this past spring, and have been saving it for this very day.

It doesn't get much more patriotic than this. The A side is amazing, but the Spirit of '76 Medley is, well, how do you say, without sounding like an insensitive jerk-- "Exceptional."
We'll leave it at that.

Happy independence day from Mrs Olivia Taylor, and the Walker County Shrine School for "Exceptional Children."

Alternatives?

Anyone out there in internet land know of a decent temporary alternative to DivShare? One with an on screen player (and free) would be awesome. Just someplace i can upload a few files for a few days until DivShare gets their shit together and fixes their site. I know i've seen them, but i just can't seem to find anything right now...  I've been waiting for days over here. Meanwhile, virtual cobwebs are starting to form here at Junk Shop Juke Box....

I wouldn't care so much if i was a free user, but i actually PAY for their services!

ANY help would be appreciated.
