Laid off
I'm a sucker for old indie releases in these corny picture sleeves. Just look at that photo of ole Leon...
You know he's sincere. His words are from the heart.
The story of a hard working man who got laid off from his job. As a result he had some spare time on his hands. He was looking for a hobby, so what did he do? That's right, he went into the studio and cut a record describing the whole situation.
Why not? Makes sense to me...
Lend Leon your ear for a moment, and let him tell you all about it...

So what!!
Here's one for all the greedy selfish ass holes, and the fuckers who don't appreciate how good they actually do have it. The words are a bit dated, but the feeling will never go out of style.
Choke on it.

Santa claus and his old lady
A repost from two (maybe three) years ago.
One of my all time favorite Christmas records. The story of Santa Claus and his old lady as told by two drug addled ghetto dwellers in the 1970s.

Snoopy's Christmas
They had a good thing going with Snoopy vs. the Red Baron- Why wouldn't they want to try to ride the coat-tails of that hit and cash in... There's no shame.
Hey- Power to em. Hopefully they made a cool buck.

Christmas radio spots
I bought these LPs about a decade ago for a CD project i did. Just a little compilation of Christmas music i handed out to friends and family one year. Of course i still own the records, so i figured i'd dig em out, dust em off, and share some selections here on the ole blog-o-nets.
Tis the season after all...
They were both released by the big record label who's initials are W.B. and featured the top acts of the day. The day being 1987 and 1988. Both records mostly feature hokey lame-ass christmas standards. Basically, I just bought them for the radio christmas greetings ("Hi, this is so-and-so pop singer wishing you a merry christmas") and The Ramones.
I recorded most of the radio spots. A dozen of them anyway. I skipped the really super short (like 7 seconds short) ones, and threw in the (as annoying as she was) Julie Brown "comedy" bits as well... I guess these records were originally for radio station use only. In the notes on the covers it lists cues as to when each track begins and ends. The fact that they are on red and green vinyl is a nice touch as well.
Completists can find both of these albums in their entirety elsewhere on the interwebs, because i didn't bother recording all six sides.
Again, these are the radio greetings only- not music.
Get em while the gettins good: HERE. This is a new link, and it actually works...

Santa Claus is coming to town
Don't let the title scare you off. Yes, it's that 'santa claus is coming to town,' but it's performed by one of the coolest garage/psychedelic groups of the 1960s, who obviously had a good time playing it. This version is a LOT of fun, It ain't no Springsteen epic- it only clocks in at like a minute and a half, so what the fuck...

Santa's Trucker
It's too bad this guy insisted on writing his own material because he's so bad at it. Songwriting that is... (The flip side is even worse.) I suppose it's a good thing he did though because dudes like me love finding this crap 30 years after it's been forgotten by everyone else... Thing is, he's a decent blues guitarist with a pretty good sound. If he'd a kept his mouth shut and played lead guitar with a real band, he might have made some records actually worth listening to...
...Maybe it's better that he didn't though.

It kinda looks like christmas
I've been collecting them all year, and I now have 16 "new" Christmas themed records that have not been featured here on the Junk Shop Juke Box in years past. Those 16, a few reposts from the archives, and a few missed days here and there (Hey- i have a life outside of the interwebs) should get us right up to the holiday proper.
I got good stuff queued up. Some you've no-doubt heard before, and some odd-ball tunes that you might not have heard already.
Stay tuned. It's going to be a fun month.
Let's kick it off with The Royal Guardsmen, shall we.
Enjoy!
