Globetrottin

Well, it's no Sweet Georgia Brown, but it's still a pretty righteous jam.

I don't know a whole lot about the Tornadoes, they must have released a whole LP of this stuff back in the day... Even if they didn't, my ears tell me that this one was recorded at the same time as their smash runaway hit "Telstar." You got Joe Meek, who's credited as songwriter, behind the board pressing buttons and twiddling the knobs while the tape was rolling on this number too.

Dig it.

Sounds like an instrumental of Venus in Blue Jeans.

From what info I have, The Tornados released about 15 singles in the UK from 1962 - 1967.

"Away From It All" was their sole lp in 1963 - and it doesn't have Telstar on it.

For that, you'll need to find either of two vinyl compilations from the 1970s (World Of The Tornados/Remember The Tornados), both of which have that on it, plus Globetrotter, Robots, etc.

There is also a rather good double cd compilation floating about but I'm happy with the vinyl for now.
